The Premier of South Australia has released an Economic Statement for the Upper Spencer Gulf, which includes our SGC.
The Premier’s statement on the economic future of the Upper Spencer Gulf, including the cities of Port Pirie, Port August and Whyalla emphasizes the potential to lead the world in renewable hydrogen energy, green steel and copper production. The Statement highlights the announced Northern Water Supply Project, which will unlock Australia’s largest copper deposits and realise the full potential of the region.
The employment prospects in the region are many and varied. Jobs in the health, education, tourism, construction sectors continue to grow alongside the new mining and energy projects.
