Spencer Gulf Cities Call for Uni Hub Board Members

The Spencer Gulf Cities are preparing to take a major step in the progress of the university study centre, calling for members to the inaugural board of ‘Uni Hub Spencer Gulf’.

Port Pirie, Port Augusta and Whyalla Council Mayors and CEO’s met recently with Uni Hub Project Team, Reg Dennis and Moira Coffey, who provided a presentation on progress towards establishment of the University Study Centre and next steps.

Chair of Spencer Gulf Cities, Mayor Sam Johnson explained the initiative has now reached an important milestone, with establishment of a new entity to manage the Uni Hub.

“The project has now entered an operational phase, with the level of activity increasing significantly and progressing very quickly”, explained Mayor Johnson. “Well over 120 EOI’s have been received from potential student across several courses with arrangements for
delivery by university partners for delivery currently being finalised.”

“As a result, we are now calling for nominations for inaugural members to the new board of “Uni Hub Spencer Gulf”.

“The board will have a critical role to set the early strategic direction of the Uni Hub as it commences operation in Port Pirie in 2019 and Port Augusta from 2020.”

“We are looking for directors who possess a broad mix of skills and experience and who can collectively build strong community, partner and stakeholder support and generate confidence in the Uni Hub.”

Individuals with expertise in governance, strategy, communications, higher education, business management, industry and community engagement, legal, risk or finance are encouraged to apply.

Nomination forms are available on the Uni Hub website: https://unihubsg.org/ and close
5pm, Monday 17th September 2018.
